Jeremy started working in medicine in 1994 at 18 years old. After finishing U.S. Navy basic training and Navy Hospital Corpsman School, he was assigned to the Emergency Services Department at Naval Hospital Charleston and began working as an Emergency Medical Technician, learning to manage traumas and cardiac emergencies in the field.
He went on to train with the U.S. Marines, 1st Battalion/8th Marines as a Fleet Marine Force battlefield medic. He gained experience and training in trauma stabilization, orthopedic care, primary and preventative medicine.
Following an honorable discharge from the Navy in 2000, he went to school to earn his Nursing Degree and began specialization in Cardiac Care Units.
He then moved into the Open Heart Surgery Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he learned to stabilize critical patients after open heart surgery, as well as patients with chest pain and cardiac arrhythmias. Eventually he moved to an ICU that prepped and recovered heart transplant patients.
During the time in the ICUs, he worked closely with surgeons, specialists, physical therapists and dietitians to manage complex cases on a daily basis. As exciting as the work was, it became more obvious over time that the general population were in poor health, taking too many medications, with little to no education on preventative health and wellness. Jeremy witnessed the challenges in western medicine of treating chronic illness without creating new side effects and knew there had to be more to medicine than cleaning up big medical messes.
After receiving his first Acupuncture sessions as a nurse seeking help with the exhaustion from work, he learned more about Chinese Medicine and felt drawn to embark on the next chapter of his life. This led to Asheville, NC and a Masters Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
"I love treating complex cases and watching them improve over time. It takes some coaching and encouragement to get through the rough patches, but instead of watching issues pile up over time, as I witnessed before, I now watch them slowly diminish, until a more balanced and more resilient person is standing in front of me."
